Japanese technology giant NEC has contributed to planting 6,250 trees in Sukaresmi and Sukaharja Villages, Sukamakmur District, Bogor Regency, West Java, by December 2024.

The addition of 10.5 hectares of green space helps create a cooler and healthier environment, improves air quality, and improves water resource management.

This initiative provides direct economic benefits to farmers through annual harvests from fruit trees or income from timber sales.

Based on allometric calculations of the types of trees planted, the total carbon emissions estimated to be absorbed during the lifetime of the trees reach 710 tons of CO? equivalent (CO?eq). Overall, the results of the third phase of monitoring showed that the planted trees are growing well and are in healthy condition.

The trees have reached a height of between 2.15 and 3.25 meters with a trunk diameter of 2.35 to 4.47 cm. Meanwhile, fruit trees or Multi-Purpose Tree Species (MPTS) grow to a height of 1.25 to 2.15 meters, with a trunk diameter of between 1.53 to 3.05 cm.
