Cibinong, Bogor Regency - A new chapter for business and leisure travel in West Java has begun with the groundbreaking of a major integrated hospitality development. On November 26, 2025, Archipelago International held a ceremony to mark the start of construction for the Aston Cibinong Resort & Convention Center and the Harper Cibinong hotel. Developed by PT Grand Wahid Pratama, this twin-property project is poised to become a landmark destination upon its scheduled opening in 2027, offering a total of 450 keys to meet diverse traveler needs.

The Aston Cibinong Resort & Convention Center is engineered to be a game-changer for the Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions (MICE) sector in the region. With a grand ballroom designed for audiences of up to 2,000 people and an extensive array of 23 supporting meeting rooms, it will provide unprecedented capacity and facilities for large-scale corporate events, national conferences, and social galas. Its four-star resort designation ensures that attendees are hosted in a setting of comfort, complete with lake views and recreational amenities.

The Harper Cibinong, operating as a three-star hotel within the same complex, provides a crucial complementary offering. Its 218 rooms will cater to attendees seeking more economical lodging, smaller business meetings, and leisure travelers exploring Bogor's attractions. This combination ensures the entire complex can host an event's main attendees at the Aston while accommodating support staff, overflow guests, or those with different budgets at the Harper, all within walking distance.

The development underscores Archipelago International's aggressive growth strategy and confidence in Indonesia's secondary cities. As Southeast Asia's largest privately-owned hotel management group, Archipelago is leveraging its expertise to tap into emerging demand. This move is synchronized with broader tourism trends; Indonesia has climbed to become the third most-searched destination on Agoda in 2025, with interest from Asian markets surging.

Quoting Archipelago International's CEO, John Flood, the project is a "direct embodiment of our mission to create and operate world-class properties". He further noted that the development anticipates the promising growth of tourism in the Cibinong-Bogor area, aiming to deliver an exceptional asset to their portfolio. The presence of local government officials at the ceremony underscored the project's alignment with regional economic development goals.

The strategic location of the complex, approximately seven minutes from the Citeureup Toll Gate on the Jagorawi route, places it within easy reach of Greater Jakarta's population center while offering a more serene, resort-like environment. This accessibility is key to attracting both the capital's large-scale events and travelers seeking a convenient retreat from the city.

When the doors open in 2027, the Aston and Harper Cibinong complex will not only provide new accommodation options but is expected to stimulate the local economy by attracting high-value business tourism, creating numerous direct and indirect employment opportunities, and raising the profile of Bogor as a serious contender in Indonesia's competitive hospitality and MICE landscape.
